มหาเศรษฐีพันล้านชาวอเมริกันนาย Bill Heinecke ทำกำไรมหาศาลจากรัฐประหารไทย แต่มีใครอีกบ้าง?

นาย  Bill Heinecke มหาเศรษฐีพันล้านชาวอเมริกันซึ่งทำธุรกิจอยู่ในประเทศไทย และมีประวัติเสื่อมเสียในออกมาต่อต้านประชาธิปไตยอย่างรุนแรง 

การที่เขาสร้างเหตุผลเพื่อนำมาอธิบายถึงความชอบธรรมต่อการทำรัฐประหารในประเทศไทย อันเป็นเหตุการณ์ที่ทำให้ประชาชนไทยหลายสิบล้านคนต้องถูกลิดรอนสิทธิในระบอบประชาธิปไตย สิทธิพลเมือง สิทธิทางการเมือง และสิทธิมนุษยชน เป็นเรื่องที่น่าขยะแขยงและต่ำช้าของชายคนหนึ่งซึ่งได้รับผลประโยชน์อันมหาศาลอย่างชัดเจนจากความเหลื่อมล้ำทางเศรษฐกิจอันย่ำแย่ในประเทศไทย ต้องขอบคุณนาย David Streckfuss ที่ได้ช่วยทำลายคำพูดอันน่าเกลียด ไร้สาระ และนิยมเผด็จการฟาสซิสต์ของนาย Heinecke ด้วยการเขียนบทความลงในเวปไซต์นิวแมนเดลล่า

แต่กระนั้นในวันนี้ จากบทสัมภาษณ์ของนาย นาย Heinecke ที่ตีพิมพ์ในเวปไซต์ข่าว Bloomberg  อันเป็นบทสัมภาษณ์ที่ฟังดูเหมือนเป็นการล้อเลียนตัวเองอย่างไม่รู้ตัวของนาย Heinecke และเผยให้เห็นว่านาย Heinecke ได้ก้าวไปถึงจุดที่ได้ประทับตราภาพลักษณ์ของเขาว่าเป็นคนที่ไม่มีหลักการ ฉวยโอกาส ไม่มีศีลธรรม และชั่วร้ายตลอดกาล ไม่ต่างอะไรจากนักธุรกิจหน้าเลือด

Bloomberg รายงานว่า

นาย Heinecke "ยังคงมองว่าการทำรัฐประหารสร้างความวุ่นวายในตลาดหุ้นไทย และเป็นโอกาสที่ดีในการซื้อหุ้น โดยเขาระบุในระหว่างการสัมภาษณ์ก่อนเกิดการทำรัฐประหารในห้องทำงานรกๆของเขาซึ่งอยู่ห่างจากเพนเฮาส์ที่เขาอาศัยอยู่แค่ 5 กิโลเมตร: "เวลาที่ดีที่สุดในการลงทุนคือตอนที่คนอื่นย้ายทุนออก การพูดคุยเรื่องสงครามการเมืองเป็นสิ่งไร้สาระ""

และลองเดาสิว่า Bloomberg ได้แฉว่าใครบ้างที่ได้ผลประโยชน์จากความร่ำรวยที่มากขึ้นของนาย  Heinecke? สถาบันกษัตริย์ไทย  

กลุ่มคนที่ถือหุ้นและคนอื่นๆในบริษัทนาย Heinecke ในบริษัท Minor International Pcl ที่อยู่ในตลาดหุ้นไทย ผู้ได้รับประโยชน์อันดับหนึ่งจากความผันผวนของบริษัท Minor คือกษัตริย์ไทย พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดช ซึ่งถือหุ้น 2 เปอร์เซ็นต์ของบริษัทภายใต้ชื่อตนเอง และสมาชิกราชวงศ์คนอื่นที่ถือหุ้นอีก 4 เปอร์เซ็นต์

นี่ทำให้เกิดคำถามง่ายๆตามมาว่า หากนาย Heinecke ได้รับผลประโยชน์จากการทำรัฐประหารของทหารไทย แล้วมีใครอีกที่ได้รับผลประโยชน์นั้นด้วย?

The Bangkok-based and naturalised-Thai US billionaire Bill Heinecke is already on the record with his disgraceful anti-democracy diatribe. 

His earlier rationalisation of the Thai military coup, which has stripped 10s of millions of ordinary Thais of all their democratic, civil, political and human rights, marked a particularly disgusting low point in the life of a man who has clearly benefited greatly from Thailand's appalling economic inequalities. Thankfully David Streckfuss was on hand to demolish Heinecke's awful, fascist-pandering nonsense at New Mandala.

Yet today - with what appears to be an unconsciously self-parody of an interview on the Bloomberg news website - Heinecke has surpassed himself and sealed forever his image as the unprincipled, grasping, amoral and vicious Thai version of Mr Burns 

Bloomberg reports that

Heinecke "still sees any coup-induced ructions in Thai markets as buying opportunities, as he’d suggested during an interview before the takeover in his cluttered office some 5 kilometers (3 miles) from his penthouse: “The best time to move in is when others are moving out. All this talk of civil war is nonsense.”" 

And guess who Bloomberg reveal as benefiting from the increase in Heinecke's wealth? The Thai Royal Family.

These holdings and others come under Heinecke’s Bangkok-listed Minor International Pcl...A prime beneficiary of Minor’s surge is Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who owns 2 percent of the company in his own name. Another 4 percent is held by other royal family members

This begs the simple question - if Heinecke is financially benefitting from Thailand's military coup who else is?

ข้อกล่าวหาอันฉ้อฉลเกี่ยวกับโครงการรับจำนำข้าว - คสช.ก่อรัฐประหารเพราะข้าวหายไป 0.009%?

ผนขอเขียนบทความสั้นๆ เพราะเหลือบไปเห็นบทความในหนังสือพิมพ์บางกอกโพสต์วันนี้เกี่ยวกับการสอบสวนของคณะเผด็จการทหารไทยกรณีการเก็บรักษาข้าวซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของนโยบาย “การให้ความช่วยเหลือด้านการเงินในโครงการข้าว” บทความที่ชื่อว่า "Officials surveyors in the line of fire" ได้เพ่งความสนใจอย่างชัดเจนไปที่คำขู่ของคณะเผด็จการทหารที่จะปลดคนที่ทำงานเกี่ยวข้องกับโครงการข้าว หากคนเหล่านั้นอาจมีแววว่าจะไร้ประสิทธิภาพ หรือมีพฤติกรรมที่ไม่เหมาะสมอื่นๆ

แต่สิ่งที่ทำให้ผมสนใจคือบรรทัดสุดท้ายของบทความ....

"ในอยุธยา มีข้าว  200,000 ตัน และมีการตรวจสอบคลังเก็บข้าววันนี้ ไม่มีอะไรผิดปกติ
ในการตรวจสอบคลังเก็บข้าวที่นครศรีธรรมราชพบว่ายังมีข้าวทั้งหมดจำนวน 16,320 ตันเก็บอยู่
ในการตรวจสอบคลังเก็บข้าวที่นครราชสีมาพบว่าจากข้าวจำนวน 9,859 ตัน มี 22 ตันที่หายไป 
จากคลังเก็บข้าวทั้งหมด 125 แห่งในกำแพงเพชร มีเพียงแห่งเดียวที่ได้รับการตรวจสอบ และพบว่าไม่มีข้าวหายไป"

หากเรานับรวมจำนวนข้าวทั้งหมดในโรงเก็บข้าวจากอยุธยา นครศรีธรรมราช และนครราชสีมา ก็จะมากกว่า 226,000 ตันหน่อย หากเราคาดเดาว่าจำนวนน้อยสุดของข้าวที่กำแพงเพชรเท่ากับ 9000 ตัน นั้นหมายความว่าจำนวนข้าวที่ถูกตรวจสอบทั้งหมดคือ 235,000 ตัน

จำนวนข้าวที่หายไปคือ 22 ตัน หากเทียบเป็นเปอร์เซ็นของ 235,000 ตัน แล้วจะเท่ากับ 0.009%.

หรือหากกล่าวอีกนัยหนึ่งคือ จำนวนข้าวที่หายไปนั้นเล็กน้อยมากจนแทบไม่มีความสำคัญ

และเพราะด้วยจำนวนข้าวที่หายไป 0.009% นี่หรือที่ทำให้คณะเผด็จการก่อรัฐประหารและสร้างความหวาดกลัวในกทม.?

Public Statement by the Thai Lawyers for Human Rights: Thanapol Eawsakul Facing Second Arrest

I received the following statement from Thai Lawyers for Human Rights and publish it here in full.

Social Online Posting Claimed as a Breach of His Terms of Release.

Thanapol Eawsakul being arrested by Thai Army

Previously, Mr. Thanapol Eawsakul was summoned to report himself as per the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO)’s announcement no. 5/ 2557 and was released on 30 May 2014. In order to be discharged from the military custody, he had to sign a contract annexed to the NCPO Announcement no. 39/2557. Recently, a military official who declined to give his name and position called and made an appointment with Mr. Eawsakul on 5 July 2014 at a public place and Mr. Eawsakul willingly cooperated.

But it turned that at the rendezvous, a car was waiting and Mr. Eawsakul was shoved into it and was brought to a military facility. There was no indication whatsoever that the vehicle belonged to the government. In addition, the persons who apprehended Mr. Eawsakul failed to identify themselves as competent officials who had the power to arrest him invoking Martial Law. Around 18.30 the same day, Mr. Eawsakul was brought to the Crime Suppression Division without being pressed with any charges. Reportedly, the deprivation of his liberty was attributed to his postings in social online which were cited as a breach to the terms of his previous release.  

The Thai Lawyers for Human Rights would like to offer our opinions regarding the incidence and other similar incidences as follows; 

1. According to the terms of release annexed to the NCPO Announcement no. 39/2557 for the persons summoned and no. 40/2557 for the persons held in custody invoking Martial Law, the released persons have to identify their residence, are barred from leaving the country without permission, and barred from participating in any political activity or meeting. Such terms put restriction in the rights and liberties of people regarding their right to their privacy, mobility, and freedom of expression, all of which are enshrined in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) to which Thailand is a state party and is obliged to observe. Any restriction on such rights and liberties could only be done as utmost necessary and unavoidably as well as proportionately. No prohibition or restriction can be put universally on any rights and liberties. In addition, safeguards against such restrictions must be put in place.

          Nevertheless, the terms annexed to the Announcement place universal restrictions to curb people’s rights and liberties and no appeal with supporting reasons can be made to have the restrictions lifted. The restrictions are not time-bound and if the persons held in custody refuse to sign them off, they shall not be released. Therefore, such terms are far from being voluntary.

2. The arrest and detention of persons invoking Martial Law as such have been conducted with no transparency and credible due process of law. It is therefore prone to infringe on rights and liberties disproportionately, particularly given that the arresting officials declined to identify themselves including their positions. Such an act simply make the person at arrest feel insecure and unsafe of their lives as they are unsure if the persons who are making the arrest against them are state officials or thugs. 

3. The restriction invoking Martial Law to curb the right to freedom of expression via social online media, even though the opinions posted do not prove to be inciting violence or public disorder and that the person is consequently subjected to the arrest and detention must be considered a disproportionate, arbitrary and unnecessary act which has violated people’s freedom. 

4. The invoking of Martial Law to fix the terms of release including to completely prohibit the persons released from expressing their political opinions and the use of personal discretion to re-arrest the person and hold him in custody for seven days as in this case, is apparently tantamount to being a blanket derogation of personal rights and liberties. It is an exercise of draconian power to disproportionately restrict or limit the use of personal rights and liberties. Therefore, the authorities in charge and their legal divisions must urgently review the terms and the use of restrictions invoking Martial Law.

        In particularly, due attention must be given to the restriction of rights and liberties including by holding a person in custody, summoning, monitoring, contacting, visiting, meeting a person and other terms and conditions put forth in order to compromise the right to freedom of expression of an individual. It is simply an exercise of draconian power without any safeguards and review and as a result it can easily lead to the use of power arbitrarily and unlawfully. Even though Martial Law is invoked, but the righteousness of any act by the official is still subjected to the principle of proportionality, transparency, due process of law and judicial review. 

            Given the reasons above, the Thai Lawyers for Human Rights urges the NCPO to immediately and unconditionally release Mr. Thanapol Eawsakul and would like to reiterate our recommendations made after the first month of the seizure of power by the military as follows;

1.      Revoke the imposition of Martial Law and rescind any Notifications issued invoking Martial Law countrywide since the necessities that require the invocation of Martial Law no longer exist and replace it with normal justice process.

2.      Stop the detention invoking Martial Law and stop the prosecution against peaceful demonstrators who have expressed themselves or made criticisms faithfully and revoke any order to ban public assembly

3.      Stop the summonses and arbitrary detention

4.      Stop trying a civilian in military court by invoking the Notification regarding the jurisdiction of military court over certain criminal offences.

The Faked Rice Subsidy Scheme Scandal

Very quick post but my eyes were drawn to a piece today in the Bangkok Post regarding the Thai military junta's investigation into the storage of rice which were part of the Pheu Thai Party's "rice subsidy" programme. The piece, entitled "Officials surveyors in the line of fire" ostensibly focuses on the junta's threats to sack anyone connected to the rice subsidy scheme who may have shown incompetence or some other untoward behaviour.

But what really caught my eye was this bit at the bottom of the piece....

If we total the rice amounts at the Ayutthaya, Nakhon Si Thammarat and Nakhon Ratchasima warehouses it equals just over 226,000 tonnes of rice. If we speculate, as a minimum amount, the number of tonnes of rice at Kamphaeng Phet was 9000 then the total inspected equals 235,000 tonnes.

The amount missing is 22tonnes. As a percentage of 235,000 tonnes 22tonnes is 0.009%.

Or, in other words, an amount so tiny as to be almost insignificant.

And it is for that 0.009% the junta staged their coup and the PDRC terrorised Bangkok?

Free-Thai Leader Charupong Issues Open Letter - Calls Jakrapob's Weapons' Charge a "Fabrication"

We have received this open letter from the Secretary General of the anti-coup Free Thai movement, Charupong Ruangsuwan. His letter reflects on the repressive tactics of the Thai military regime and lambasts the "war weapons" accusations placed against the Free Thai movement's Executive Secretary, Jakrapob Penkair, by the junta's agents.

"Greeting to all freedom-loving Thai friends,

The very best weapons of ordinary, unarmed Thai people during the junta’s repression, is your sincerity and your love for justice and human dignity of all Thais.

Since the very first days of the military coup, the junta has attempted to fabricate many stories in order to destroy the faith in freedom and democracy of our Thai friends who’ve stood up against the repression. Most recently, the junta has pressed false “war weapon” charges against one of the founding members of our Free Thai organisation, Jakrapob Penkair. They have done so without any evidence. 

This dirty tactic is no different from the one that the junta used against the students in the past. On October 6, 1976 at Thammasat University, they used fabricated war weapons “seizures” as their justification for massacring peaceful protesters. The passage of time revealed the truth and proved that these stories were fabricated deceits created to crush the people who were opposed to the military junta.    

At the moment the dignity of the country and of Thai people has fallen to an unprecedented low level.  This dignity has been stolen by the junta, who are attempting to shut our eyes and ears to the truth and prevent us from being aware of our collective struggle against them. In addition the junta regime is desperate to prevent Thai people from knowing of the pressure the international community is placing upon them. The junta has shut-down TV stations and community radio stations and is attempting to control the remaining news content by stationing its soldiers at media broadcasters and outlets to ensure that only pro-junta news is produced. It has summoned and intimidated journalists, academics and even ordinary Thai citizens who use social media, in order to curtail freedoms of the press and to control dissemination of information. 

Thais who love and want to protect freedom - and who do so without resorting to force of arms - are committed to telling the truth no matter what the profession, age, or gender of the persons involved. People should expose and utterly reject the junta’s prison of deceit, a creation designed only to subjugate the people. 

We ask our supporters and any other persons drawn to the democratic ideals of the Free Thais’ movement to distribute information from our social media networks to their neighbours, friends, family members, brothers and sisters and even international organisations. We must make the truth echo loudly, so that those with a free conscience are reminded that the junta can’t just buy our friendship and love for the truth so cheaply, and thereby use such tactics to further persecute us.

My beloved Thai friends, we will continue working together to create a framework of ideas that can help take the country forwards towards democracy. Every Sunday, for the sake of freedom and humanity for all Thai people, we will distribute a Free Thais newsletter in order to tell the truth and fight against the deceit of the junta. And when the time comes, we will walk together, standing-tall with straight backs, filled with pride and belief in the equality of all humans, once again.

เราได้รับจดหมายเปิดผนึกจากเลขาธิการของกลุ่มเคลื่อนไหวต่อต้านรัฐประหารเสรีไทย นายจารุงพงศ์ เรืองสุวรรณ ในจดหมายเขาสะท้อนภาพให้เห็นถึงกลยุทธ์อันกดขี่ของคณะเผด็จการทหาร และโจมตีข้อกล่าวหาของเลขานุการบริหารกลุ่มเคลื่อนไหวต่อต้านรัฐประหารเสรีไทย นายจักรภพ เพ็ญแข ซึ่งตั้งขึ้นโดยเจ้าหน้าที่ของกองทัพไทย 

สวัสดี เพื่อนชาวไทยผู้มีเสรีภาพและความเป็นไทในจิตวิญญาณทุกท่าน

อาวุธที่ดีที่สุดของประชาชนมือเปล่าในห้วงเวลาของการกดขี่โดยคณะเผด็จการทหารยามนี้ คือ “ความจริงใจ ความรัก ในความยุติธรรม รักศักดิ์ศรีความเป็นคน ของคนไทยทุกคน”

นับแต่เกิดการรัฐประหาร คณะเผด็จการทหารพยายามสร้างเรื่องเท็จหลอกลวงจำนวนนับไม่ถ้วน เพื่อทำลายความเชื่อมั่นในเสรีภาพและประชาธิปไตยของเพื่อนชาวไทยที่ลุกขึ้นมาต่อสู้นับแต่วันแรก และล่าสุดนายจักรภพ เพ็ญแข สมาชิกผู้ร่วมก่อตั้งองค์การเสรีไทย ได้โดนศาลทหารออกหมายจับด้วยการยัดเยียดข้อหามีอาวุธสงคราม ทั้งที่ไม่มีหลักฐานประกอบใดๆ วิธีการสกปรกนี้ ไม่ต่างจากที่เผด็จการทหารเคยใช้กับนักศึกษาในอดีต ที่ใส่ร้าย กุข่าว เรื่องจับอาวุธสงครามได้ในมหาวิทยาลัยธรรมศาสตร์หลังวันฆ่านกพิราบ 6 ตุลาคม 2519 ซึ่งเวลาได้พิสูจน์ความจริงแล้วว่า เรื่องเหล่านั้น ล้วนเป็นการปั้นข่าวลวง เพื่อทำลายประชาชนผู้เป็นศัตรูโดยตรงกับเผด็จการทหารทั้งสิ้น

ณ ตอนนี้ ศักดิ์ศรีของประเทศชาติและประชาชนชาวไทยตกต่ำถึงขีดสุด อย่างที่ไม่เคยเป็นมาก่อน เพราะถูกปล้นโดยคสช. เผด็จการทหารพยายามปิดหู ปิดตาเรา ไม่ให้เรารับรู้เรื่องราวของการต่อสู้ และไม่ให้เรารับรู้แรงกดดันจากนานาประเทศ ที่มีต่อประเทศไทย ปิดสถานีโทรทัศน์ วิทยุชุมชน ควบคุมเนื้อหาข่าวสาร ส่งทหารไปประจำสถานีโทรทัศน์และหนังสือพิมพ์ เพื่อให้สื่อออกข่าวตามใจคณะเผด็จการทหาร เรียกตัวสื่อมวลชน นักข่าว นักวิชาการ แม้กระทั่งประชาชนอิสระที่นำเสนอข่าวของตนเองผ่านทางโซเชียลมีเดีย จนการนำเสนอข่าวถูกจำกัดไร้เสรีภาพใดๆ

สิ่งที่เราชาวไทยผู้รักและต้องการปกป้องเสรีภาพจะทำได้ด้วยมือเปล่า คือการบอกเล่าความจริงที่เกิดขึ้น ระหว่างประชาชนสู่ประชาชนด้วยกัน ไม่ว่าจะอยู่ในที่ใด เมื่อไร อาชีพ อายุ เพศ ไม่เป็นสิ่งขวางกั้นความจริง ให้ประชาชนได้ก้าวข้ามกรงขังแห่งความหลอกลวงที่เผด็จการทหารสร้างขึ้นมาครอบงำ

ผู้ร่วมอุดมการณ์เสรีไทยทุกแห่งหน สามารถเป็นตัวกลางระหว่างผู้ได้รับข่าวสารจากโซเชียลมีเดียสู่เพื่อนบ้าน ครอบครัว พี่น้อง มิตรสหาย องค์กรในต่างประเทศ ที่อาจเข้าไม่ถึง พูดความจริงให้มีเสียงดังซ้อนซ้ำย้ำเตือนในจิตสำนึกแห่งเสรี ที่ไม่ยอมให้เผด็จการทหารใช้เศษเงินมาแลกเอามิตรภาพและความรักในความจริงเพื่อตั้งข้อหาข่มขู่คุกคาม
